Bernard Saint-Maxent

Bernard Saint-Maxent is a self-taught artist who embraces his unique vision in material selection, blending various elements into his creations. His current focus is on a playful, slender character that embodies a zest for life, infusing movement and vitality into his sculptures.

Drawing inspiration from the comedic genius of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, as well as modern life’s quirks and his own imaginative thoughts, he tackles serious subjects with a humorous twist. His sculptures are crafted with a metal framework, layered with resin, varnish, and bronze paint, finished with a patina that mimics bronze, and then mounted on aluminum for wall display. For Bernard, art is all about lightness and joy.

He has showcased his work extensively across Europe, with exhibitions in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto, and New York, collaborating with Linda Blackstone since 2008. His art resonates with a global audience that appreciates quirky humor, leading to sold-out shows, including two solo exhibitions at Place des Vosges in Paris. Additionally, his pieces are featured in galleries located in Honfleur, Courchevel, and Saint-Paul de Vence in France.
